Conflict in Not-for-Profit Organisations

Conflict in Not-for-Profit Organisations

1-day Workshop: Wednesday 9 September 2026 | Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland

Conflict is not a sign that something has gone wrong. It is a normal part of working in

organisations - and when it is handled well, it can actually strengthen teams and lead to

better decisions. The challenge is knowing how to respond when it arises, and feeling

confident enough to do so.

This workshop is designed for not-for-profit leaders and managers who want to build their

skills and confidence in managing conflict - whether it involves team members, colleagues,

volunteers, or other organisations.

What we will cover

  • The nature of conflict -what it is, how it varies, and why it is not always a bad thing

  • The conditions that escalate conflict and what to do about them

  • Practical tools for conflict mapping and managing concerns

  • How to have difficult conversations - including one-on-ones

  • Interest-based approaches to resolving disagreements

  • What successful conflict resolution requires of you as a leader

  • Working with conflict across cultural differences

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is well suited to managers, team leaders, coordinators, and senior staff in

community and not-for-profit organisations. It is relevant whether you are new to managing

conflict or looking to refresh and extend your practice.

What to expect

The day combines short presentations, frameworks and tools, paired and group discussion,

and reflection on your own experience. You will leave with practical approaches you can use

straight away, and a clearer sense of your own style when it comes to conflict.
